How four good hours tend to unfold
Most dinner dates start at around seven. She meets you in your hotel bar, or at the restaurant if that is simpler, and the opening half hour belongs to a drink and the small, pleasant business of getting acquainted. Dinner fills the middle two hours. The final stretch is yours to shape: a nightcap under low lamps, a slow loop past the lit windows of Bond Street, or straight back to the hotel. A table at nine simply slides everything later.
