Karolina, curtain up

Discretion is not a policy with Karolina, it is simply her temperament. She is tall and slim at 174 cm, with long black hair worn perfectly straight, dark brown eyes and the kind of posture people call effortless when they really mean trained. Her wardrobe is minimalist and exact: black, cut beautifully, one piece of silver, no logos anywhere. When she crosses the Piazza at dusk the street performers seem to pause for a beat, although she will tell you that is pure coincidence.

Beneath the poise sits a dry, generous wit. Karolina rarely raises her voice and rarely needs to, because her best lines are delivered quietly and land a second later. She speaks fluent English with precise, graceful phrasing. She plays the piano most days, knows her way around an opera score and will happily explain why the second act is nearly always the better one. On free afternoons she takes long architecture walks, craning up at cornices along the Strand and reading old buildings like well-thumbed books.

Covent Garden is her home district and her natural stage. An ideal booking might start with an early glass at the Royal Opera House, the tall glass hall above the market filling with bright conversation before curtain up, followed by the performance and a late table on Maiden Lane. Or she may skip the stage entirely and suggest a slow loop through Seven Dials, every little street aglow, before supper sent up to your suite at The Savoy or One Aldwych.
